The Greek word for pink, Rhodochrosite is associated with the rose; the symbol of love that can be traced back to the Incas in the 13th century, who called the stone "Inca Rose." According to legend, these pink gems formed from the blood of their kings and queens. Ruled by the planet Venus, the Rhodochrosite stone’s meaning comes from its healing pink hue, the color of love. Like the soft petals of a rose, the Rhodochrosite stone supports feelings of compassion, deeper emotional connections, and openness to love without judgment or expectations. 

Rhodochrosite evokes the Goddess and invites us to ask ourselves, “What would love do?” in each situation we encounter and to respond accordingly. Rhodochrosite is a pink carbonate mineral found primarily along the Pacific coastline of North and South America. It is the national gemstone of Argentina, and today, the world's main deposits are still found in Argentina. Rhodochrosite is also the official state mineral of Colorado, partially due to the famous Sweet Home Mine located near Alma, Colorado, where rare, well-formed crystals have been found.

Proper Care of Rhodochrosite 

To clean rhodochrosite, use cool water and soap, untreated cloth. Thoroughly dry rhodochrosite and any settings before storing or wearing. Protect rhodochrosite jewelry when it is not worn by storing it in a soft pouch to avoid contact with other harder gemstones or materials that could potentially scratch or cleave the gem.
