Larimar, the Ocean Harmony Stack, is a meaningful combination featuring a calming stone that mirrors the depths of the clear blue expansive ocean. Also known as the "Dolphin Stone" for its association with the charming and intelligent ocean creature, or "Caribbean Gemstone" for its waves of ocean-blue color reminiscent of the Dominican Republic beach where it was discovered. Some also refer to it as the "Atlantis Stone," believing that the Dominican Republic now stands where the legendary City of Atlantis once existed. 

In 1916, Father Miguel Domingo Fuertes Loren reportedly discovered Larimar, but it wasn't until 1974 that it was mined, thanks to the keen eye of Dominican Miguel Méndez and Peace Corps volunteer Norman Rilling, who found a piece on the Barahona province shoreline. Named after Miguel's daughter, Larissa, and "mar," the Spanish word for "sea," Larimar beautifully captures the essence of the Caribbean Sea.

Proper Care of Larimar 

As larimar is a soft stone, rough handling, heat and chemicals should be avoided. To clean larimar, use warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly. Steamers and ultrasonic cleaners should be avoided. Store larimar away from harder stones and other materials that could cause dents and other surface imperfections. A soft pouch is recommended.
