Balance & Inner Wisdom Stack
Balance & Inner Wisdom Stack
A gemstone of inner wisdom, pearls are all about inviting you to find your own balance and flow.
Born into this world rather than simply found, what’s even more remarkable is the fact that they are discovered in the deep blue depths of the ocean. As the tides are pulled by the moon, this infuses these sweet little gemstones with all the power and grace of divine feminine energy. Connected to nature, wisdom, and new beginnings, they symbolically invite us to do a deep dive into our own inner oceans and discover the treasures that shimmer beneath the surface.
Pearls have long been celebrated for their wisdom and wonder. According to mythology, they are a gift gained through experience when one reaches a state of knowledge and understanding. So many stories are woven into these glistening orbs. In Ancient Japan, they believed pearls to be the tears of mythical creatures. In Ancient Greece, they were considered to be tears of the gods. In Christianity, they have even been called the tears of Eve. In the Quran, they are a symbol of perfection found in paradise. In Vedic texts, the pearl was considered the daughter of the moon - united by a flash of lightning that married earth and heaven.
Pearls arrive into our hands in the same style in which they are born. They are formed when mollusks sense an irritant and throw up pearly layers as a way of protecting themselves. These layers build and build over time (every grain of sand can be seen as an irritant to a mollusk) until eventually, you are left with this concentric build-up of energy and protection. These pearls are gathered; they aren’t cut or shaped or fussed with in any way. They are created by living creatures, carrying that sentience and sublime meaning with them. Pearls are a constant reminder that we have the power of protection stashed within us and that we also have the knowledge needed to keep ourselves balanced and safe. Just like the mollusk, we have intuitive wisdom, leading to the wonderful creation of things.
The history of pearls goes back thousands of years. Pearls have been found in jewelry from ancient civilizations, including the Sumerians, Egyptians, and Greeks. In ancient Rome, pearls were associated with Venus, the goddess of love. According to the Persian pearl myth, Persians believed that pearls were created by rainbows, and their imperfections were caused by thunder and lightning. In other cultures, it is believed that mythical creatures created pearls. Pearl symbolism can vary regarding the different cultures and colors of the pearls. Pearls are the only gemstones that are created by living creatures. Pearls can be found in the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of California. Freshwater and saltwater pearls can also be found in Japan, China, Ireland, Scotland, France, Austria, Australia, Germany, and the USA."
Healing Properties of Pearls
Pearls can be utilized similarly to crystals and minerals for healing and metaphysical purposes. Their energy is inherently feminine. Some healers use pearls to balance body rhythms and hormone levels in alignment with lunar cycles, harmonizing individuals with the natural world.
Practitioners employ pearls to enhance personal integrity, reveal truth, foster sincerity, discourage immodest behavior, and promote wisdom.
Proper Care of Pearls
Pearls are soft and should be treated delicately. Never use ultrasonic cleaners or steamers. Wipe gently with a soft cloth after each wearing or, for more thorough cleanings, use mild soap and water. If knotted, make sure the cord is completely dry before wearing.
Human skin oils are one of the best things for pearls. Pearl owners should wear theirs often enough to keep them looking lustrous. Take care not to use perfumes, colognes or lotions where pearls will be touching the skin as the gems will absorb what they come into contact with. Avoid lotions and skin care products which contain citrus oils, as even mild acids can dull the surface of pearls. Always remove pearls before engaging in exercise, as perspiration can also negatively affect the surface.
